Happy New Year, y'all!! I am so excited to welcome 2011 and the adventures it holds for all of us. I thought I'd post my favorite cards of the year here for you...I hope you enjoy them!

Someone like you makes it hard to live without somebody else...

ACK! How did it get to be Thursday already? I really need to figure out how to add another four hours to the day. Anyone else? I'm *hoping* that when the boys go back to school it will be better...but secretly I'm not too optimistic. {sigh}

Anyway, I am FINALLY back with a Whipper Snapper card for you. Have you checked out Anna's new cling sets yet? They're too cute! This card uses the set called Butterfly Kisses.




Instructions:
1. Cut kraft base layer and mat with black cardstock.
2. Cut yellow patterned paper, mat with black cardstock, & adhere to kraft panel.
3. Adhere striped patterned strip across card base.
4. Place jewel embellishment piece in top left corner.
5. Wrap ribbon around card base, adhere ends to back.
6. Stamp & color flower image and embellish with glitter. Mat with black cardstock.
7. Adhere to card front with foam dimensionals.
8. Tie bow next to main image, threading under attached ribbon strip.

I colored this fun flower image with Copic markers, using the Quad-Zero's and the darkest shade, picking up ink from a palette & using feather strokes to blend them together. I accented some areas of the flowers with Glossy Accents & Glamour Dust, then covered the vase with Glossy Accents.

I was so lost back then...but with a little help from my friends...I found a light in the tunnel at the end...

Hey, y'all! Did you think I forgot about you? Nope! I sure didn't! I'm back with a cute little 4 1/4" square card using Anna's new set Sunnyside Up. I had soooo much fun coloring this little girl!

Sorry for the crummy picture...my camera has been on strike lately! Maybe it's because she knows I'm about to replace her with a Canon Digital Rebel...*wink* Anyway, I stamped this cute girlie on Neenah White cardstock in Memento Black ink and colored her with Copic markers. Then I punched out the image with a Marvy Circle Punch (the pink one), and sponged the edges with distress ink.

After cutting the Kraft card base and sponging the edges, I decided to layer a couple of different patterned papers for fun. The bottom layer is from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop collection punched with the Open Scallop Edger Punch from EK Success. The yellow is a Bo Bunny Double Dot paper, punched with the Double Embossed Dotted Lace Punch, also from EK Success. Both of those layers were sponged with distress ink, then layered onto the card base. I stamped the sentiment from Friendly Expressions in black, tied some Hawaiian Shores ribbon around the card, and popped the circle image up on dimensionals. So fun!

Hey peeps! Welcome to Tuesday (aka Texas Tuesday), which has become apparently my weekly blogging day. I so appreciate you coming to visit me.

This past Saturday I taught a Copic Basics class at The Crafty Scrapper, and just realized I didn't share the samples here on my blog.






We used images from the Cowgirl Up!, Beach Bum, & Crazy for Chickens sets illustrated by my friend Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper Designs. My class was fabulous, and my students were awesome...what a talented bunch! We had a blast.

YAY! Another Copic Class!!

Happy Wednesday, y'all! How's your week going? Mine is good! I'm taking a quick trip up to Joplin, MO to deliver a pooch (more details on that tomorrow) to a sweet boy, then back home tomorrow. I do have some cards to show you, though!

These are the samples for my upcoming Copic Class at The Crafty Scrapper.

I kept the feel of the cards simple and a little distressed (like me!), and used Double Dot paper from Bo Bunny. We will be using Flower Soft and Nestabilities as well, so lots of fun stuff in this class!

Happy Tuesday, people! So...who watched the Bachelorette? I did, and I have to say I am kind of sad she told Reid no, even though I know she should have. But I think, I dunno. I think he was the right one. But what do I know! *hmph*

I have a quick little card to show you today that I made for a couple of challenges yesterday. The Clean and Simple Challenge was a sketch, and I also added a couple of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges. I'm slowly crossing them off the list! *grin*

My Whipper Snapper sets hadn't seen ink in a while, so I decided to pull out Sending Happy Thoughts designed by my friend Anna and play with it. The pear was stamped in Black Stazon on watercolor paper and colored with a waterbrush & reinkers. Once it was dry, I added some shimmer with my Stardust pen and spread it around with my waterbrush. I trimmed down some October Afternoon paper and added a scalloped edge to the bottom before tying a piece of twill around the panel. I also rounded the top corners, just for fun. Then I stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner of the Kraft panel.

Happy Wednesday, y'all! Thanks for all the get well wishes...I'm feeling a bit better, just taking it easy today and trying to drink lots of water.

I did a little bit of late-night stamping, and I was excited to see that today's Sketch Challenge was posted before I was ready for bed. So I decided to sit down and play!

I chose Anna Wight's Simply Bloom set from Whipper Snapper. I stamped the flower twice in Stazon on Watercolor paper, then drew the stems and added leaves with my Stampamajig. I colored the image with my waterbrush & reinkers. The edges were distressed with my Tonic Distressor tool, then I matted the panel with black and punched one side with the Scalloped Edge punch from Stampin' Up.

The base layer is Blush Blossom, and I sponged the edges with Tangerine Tango, then Close to Cocoa, and then a bit of Black. For the strip across the card, I matted a piece of Olive May Arts satin ribbon with black cardstock. Then I added three brads to the bottom right corner, and the sentiment framed with a piece of hardware from the We R Memory Keepers kit. Some twine to the edges of the hardware and I was all done! The finished card measures 4 1/4" square.

Howdy, everyone! What's everyone up to this weekend? I'm up late stamping...got lots to catch up on! I just wanted to show you a card I made earlier with Anna's latest Whipper Snapper release.

I always print sketch challenges and they end up piling up and cluttering my already cluttered room. But this week, I decided to PLAY for once! First up was Amy R's Friday Sketch Challenge, because it most fit my main image panel. The cupcake image is from the What's Cookin' set, and before stamping it, I drew a light pencil line on my watercolor paper to line up the images. I stamped the image three times in Stazon Black and watercolored them with my waterbrush & reinkers. Once they were dry, I added the shadows with Copic markers. I also dotted the cherries with Diamond Glaze and added a little bling to the cupcake wrappers with my Clear Spica Glitter pen. The sentiment is from the same set...I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut & embossed it with the Mega Rectangle Nestabilities. The lace is yummy...I picked it up at The Crafty Scrapper on my last trip there.The rest is pretty self-explainatory...if you have any questions, feel free to ask, but make sure you leave me your email so I can answer you! *grin*

I made up my mind when I was a young girl...I've been given this one world...I won't worry it away...

Morning, y'all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We had fun, ate too much, and played with the baby donkey at my mom's. He's so fun...just like a little puppy right now. He wasn't too sure of the mud after all the rain, so as he ran, he would fling his back legs trying to get the mud off. It was pretty funny to watch!

So I have a fun treat for you today...it's Whipper Snapper Release Day! Anna has whipped up three FANTASTIC sets for you this time, and all of the Featured Designers and Anna herself are showing off some cool samples today.

The card I have to show you today uses the Simply Bloom set. You all should know by now how much I love handwritten-type sentiments, and this one had me drooling from day one!

The second I saw this set, I wanted to use the sentiments as a stem for the flower. Originally I intended this card to be portrait, but as I was working on it, I laid the main panel sideways and ended up liking it better that way. The images were all stamped in Stazon on watercolor cardstock and colored with my reinkers and a waterbrush. I did use my Stamp-a-majig to line everything up just right. Then I cut the image out with my long rectangle Nestabilities...I knew they would come in handy someday! *grin* A little lace, stitching, and sponging on the Soft Sky layer (I love how Baja Breeze ink looks when you sponge it on the edges of Soft Sky), and a button in the center of the flower finished it off just right. It has a real homespun feel, I think.

For once, I can say, this is mine, you can't take it...as long as I know I have love, I can make it...

Happy Thursday, happy people! I'm headed over to my girlfriend's for a craft day and to kiss on baby Olivia (check her out HERE...is she not ADORABLE??), but before I go I have a couple of quick little Whipper Snapper cards to show you. The other day I stamped out a few of the images from Anna's new Little Critters set and watercolored them, so I decided to make them into some simple little cards.

I stamped this cute little elephant in Stazon on watercolor paper, then watercolored him with reinkers and a waterbrush. Is he not the CUTEST? I paired him with this sentiment from Sending Happy Thoughts, and added some brads and twine for a little sumpthin. The bashful blue card base measures 4.25" square. I haven't used this color in almost 2 years (since making 40 pocket card invites for my sister-in-law's baby shower! *grin*), but I quite like it now. Maybe you'll see it more...

Next I inked up this cute little giraffe:
Love him!! I'll tell ya a secret...to make watercoloring him EASY, I did a wash of Soft Sky, diluted with LOTS of water over the whole image. Yep, right over the giraffe! Once he was dry, I added the yellow, again over the whole giraffe, not worrying about his spots. I knew they'd be brown, and that the brown would cover up the yellow, so I didn't stress. Then I added the grass, and once it was all dry, I went back in with my blender pen (less water=more control) and colored the brown parts. Super easy, pain-free watercoloring! As long as you start with your lightest color and let each area completely dry, you're golden! Instead of waiting, I usually work on 2-3 images at the same time to keep me occupied. *wink*

So I added the sentiment from Little Critters, as well as some twine and a button. I had this ribbon on my desk and really liked the contrast of the ribbon with the twine, so I just went with it. Kinda fun, I think!

Happy Monday, yall! I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. Today is the start of our Spring Break...and boy do I need some patience already! *grin*

I do have some fun news to share, though! A while back, Anna Wight asked me to be one of the Featured Designers for Whipper Snapper Designs. How fun is that? Every month, Anna releases two new sets that are available in deeply etched cling mounted sets or bare rubber sets. And they are stinkin' adorable! This month is no exception...when I saw these Little Critters and Sending Happy Thoughts, I fell in love.

I have two cards to show you today using the new releases. This first card uses the branch from Little Critters and the bird house from Sending Happy Thoughts. Charmaine inspired me to do this with her card HERE.

The house and branch images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. I added some Stickles to the flowers and Diamond Glaze to the leaves for a little something extra. I love the fonts Anna chose this go round...they make me happy!

Next is a card using my favorite image from Sending Happy Thoughts. Who wouldn't love a worm with a cowboy hat??
I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge for this week as a jumping off point for my card. I stamped the worm (methinks he needs a name, Anna!) in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored him with Copics. Some stitching, ribbon, and the cute little sentiment was all I needed to finish it off. He just makes me giggle.

Happy Saturday, yall! I hope you're having a great weekend so far. After I post this, we are headed to the movies to see Paul Blart, Mall Cop...hopefully it will be funny! The boys are super excited.

Today I have my Sketch for You to Try sample for you...and just for kicks, I decided to just play. I felt like playing with Anna Wight's Crazy for Chickens set, so I pulled it out and created this little 4.25" square card.

Cute, huh? If I do say so myself. *wink* I stamped the chicken image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, then masked him and stamped the bale of hay 3 times, and then the little chicken feed speckles. I colored the entire image with my Copic markers, and after distressing and sponging the edges, I layered the image on Chocolate and Pumpkin cardstock. I already had a scalloped rectangle cut out of Pumpkin in my scrap bag, so I adhered it to the corner of my card and trimmed off the edges. Then I wrapped some brown twine around the corner and tied it off with a brown button from my stash (which is rapidly growing...I have a current button obsession). The card base is Saffron, embossed with the Forest Branches embossing folder, sponged, then layered onto Chocolate and finally onto my Kraft card base. I stamped the adorable little sentiment onto a tag die from my Cuttlebug, then layered it with Pumpkin, Chocolate, and tied some twill ribbon with frayed edges to finish it off.

Happy Saturday, peeps! We had a blast last night hanging out with friends...hopefully you all had a fun Friday night, too! So another Saturday means another one of Jen's fabulous Sketches for You to Try. I was gearing up for this one to be a toughie, but it came together rather quickly! Here it is...

Fun, huh? I wanted to use Anna Wight's Crazy for Chickens set, and when I looked at these two chickens, I imagined her kissing him. Look at the surprised look on his face! Cracks me up!

I stamped both chickens in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White cardstock, then colored them with Copic markers. My handy Stampamajig made it easy to make chickie look like she's pecking him on the cheek. So cute!! *grin*

She's my cherry pie...Cool drink of water...

Hey yall, Happy Thursday! I have a really short post for you today, but I had to share this card cause I love it!

I got my new Whipper Snapper stamps yesterday, so I had to ink them up right away. This image was perfect for the Sketch Challenge, so I went right to work.

 

I love this Bowl of Cherries stamp by Anna Wight...I've been drooling over it and finally had to break down once I saw that she released a chicken set. You know me and farm animals...I can't resist. I also ordered Sweet Expressions...mostly for the sentiment I used on this card. I LOVE IT!!! I colored the image with my Copic markers, cut some extra bottom cherries out and popped them up on dimensionals, and then added some shine with Diamond Glaze. The Saffron panel was embossed with the D'Vine Swirls folder, and then sponged it with Marigold Morning ink to brighten it up a bit. Then I embossed the Real Red square with the Swiss Dots folder and swiped the edges with my White Craft pad. I also rubbed the edges of the Kraft base with my White Craft ink, and did some faux stitching after I stamped my sentiment. 

The ribbon is something I found at Hobby Lobby this week...it's in the Christmas/Holiday craft isle, and it's $1.99 for a 5 yd spool, and 1/2 price this week! They have several different colors...I think I need to go back and get more!!

In other news, I was able to talk Josh into getting one of my mom's kittens!! I had fallen in love with this one, and after cuddling with her today, I just had to have her.

 

So, here's my newest furbaby. Isn't she precious??? Any suggestions for names? We're big fans of I Love Lucy, Friends (hence Phoebe & Lucy), and reality TV. I'd love to hear your ideas!!
