Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light...

How's it going, people? I'm up late posting...shhhh!! Finally got a big project done and in the mail (more about it later...maybe...I'm superstitious) so I can breathe a little sigh and work on the next one!

Tonight I spent the evening designing my Shoebox swap card for this weekend's Arlington SCS Get-Together. Creating a 10 minute card??? Such pressure!! I think I found a winner, though, and am now starting to put it all together. I'll show it to you later this week.

I have a simple little watercolored card to share today, and I hope you like it! This was done a few days ago when I was playing with my Rubber Romance Divas.

This image makes me smile every time, and these divas are sooooo fun to color. It was Julee who first enabled me to buy them forever ago. Does that mean I can still blame her for all my RR purchases? *wink*

Ok, I'm off to bed. Hope you have a fabulous day!

Stamps: Ally & Sentiment (Rubber Romance), Pretty Pattern Backgrounder (CHF)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, Old Olive, Watercolor
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Chocolate Chip Craft, So Saffron
Accessories: Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Waterbrush & Reinkers, White Taffeta Ribbon, Making Memories Slot Punch, Dimensionals, Corner Rounder, Sponges, Stickles

Because the wind is high, it blows my mind ...

Happy Tuesday! Here's another Stella card for you...this time with Daisy with a Stella on Top. Did I mention I loveeeeeyyyyyyyyy her?

I was feeling ornery so I pulled out this sentiment from River City Rubber Works. I will need a very special person to send this card to, but I'm sure I'll come up with someone who needs a laugh.

I apologize for the picture quality....I will try to get a better pic later, but I am currently experiencing technical difficulties.

ETA: I replaced the pic...much better!

Hope you have a fabulous day, and Cheer the Hell Up! *wink*

If you like Pina Coladas....

Happy Saturday, everyone! I am enjoying a lazy morning with the fam watching Batman Begins. What a great movie!

Anyway, it's time again for a Sketch for You to Try! I did pretty good at sticking with this one, don'tcha think? YAY, ME!

My new fairies and Stellas came today from Stamping Bella, and I have been itching to play with my favorite: Stella with an Olive on Top. Isn't she so much fun?? I love how her crown is sideways on her head...she reminds me of a crazy fairy godmother of sorts that's always got one foot out of trouble.

I also got my new Basic Grey pads from Verve Visual yesterday (happy mail day!!), and this Cupcake paper was just a party waiting to happen with Stella. Whatcha think?

I am still practicing my Copic skillz, but I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. She was so fun! And the A Muse sentiment topped it off perfectly.

Thanks for hanging with me today, and make sure you check out Sarah & Jen's samples on Jen's blog, as well as Amy, Carole, & Susan's take on this sketch. If you upload to SCS, don't forget to use the keyword SFYTT so we can all check out your creations!

Have a great Saturday!

Stamps: Stella with an Olive on Top, Cheers (A Muse)
Paper: Basic Black, Barely Banana, Papertrey White, GP White, Basic Grey Cupcake
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black

So what, I've got a short attention span, a coke in my hand

I was a stampin fool yesterday! Is it just me, or is it hard to stay focused on one project for long? I get so distracted sooo easily, especially when I have a deadline. Can anyone identify?

So yesterday I was working on a project and had to have a little "fun time." This cute little owl from Penny Black was calling my name, and I couldn't resist. But seriously, how cute is she?

This used Julee's Mojo Monday #32 sketch again, and I colored her with Copic Markers. My Great Expectations set was still on my desk, so I used a fun little sentiment from that set.

The next card uses Great Expectations with Seeing Stars, which is on sale along with all the other star themed sets at Verve. I had some requests for graduation cards, so I made a few of these in just about 20 minutes. Super easy!

I mentioned it above, but Verve announced a Star Studded Sale this morning with 15% off all Star Themed stamp sets and some accessories to go with them. The sale runs through May 15th, so make sure you check it out. Don't forget, shipping is FREE with orders over $40. Can't beat that!

Have a great Friday, and make sure you check back tomorrow for another Sketch for You to Try!

My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then spin me around 'til I fell asleep...

Another day, another Verve Sneak Peek! And yet another chance to win this set here on the Verve Blog, so go check it out!

I have been in a simple mood lately with my cards, and this one is no different. My dad isn't a big fan of doo-dads and ribbon, so I kept this one doo-dad free. *wink* This new set from Verve (available tomorrow) is called Father Figure. It's perfect for Dads and Husbands, and can be used in so many ways.

Julee's Mojo Monday #32 sketch a few weeks ago was my starting point for this card. I'm not sure where my color combo came from (probably scraps that were on my desk), but I really like it.
My favorite part of this stamp set is the paragraph stamp that reads, "There are so many words that define you. You're a man of integrity, a role model, provider, protector, teacher and friend." How cool is that?! Perfect for my dad, anyway.

Don't forget, you can still use the code SHANNANROCKS until tonight at midnight to get 15% off your Verve order. Have a happy Thursday!

Stamps: Father Figure (Verve Visual), Biased Stripe Backgrounder (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Paper: Barely Banana, Basic Black, Bordering Blue (Stampin' Up!), Stampers Select White (Papertrey)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko), Buckaroo Blue, So Saffron (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: Sponges, Dimensionals (Stampin' Up!)

I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob, goo goo goo g'joob.

Sorry, I heard that song the other day for the first time and it cracked me up. So I had to use it for a post. *grin*

Just to let you guys know, the previously out of stock sets Anniversary Birds and Thankful Blossoms are back in the Verve Store!! Since she's awesome, Julee has re-activated the code SHANNANROCKS for today and tomorrow for 15% off your order. For those that missed out on those sets, you can get them -->HERE<--.

Today is the first day of Verve Sneak Peeks, and you can see more samples on the Verve Blog from the rockin design team. The set we're featuring today is called Great Expectations, and it's one of my favorites. Included are 13 sentiments that are fabulous for encouragement or congratulating a job well done (like graduation!). Here's my sample:

I created the background by stamping the Biased Stripe Backgrounder from CHF on my blue panel, then stamping the word "Superstar" in between the lines repeatedly. I love how it turned out (if I do say so myself!). I sponged the edges and added some white polka dots for something extra.

The main focal point is the awesome sentiment, and I added a star from the Polka Stars set as a little embellishment. You can't see it very well in the picture, but the polka dots are all glittery, and the star is outlined with Diamond Stickles as well as the white sentiment panel.

Make sure you comment on the Verve Blog today and tomorrow for a chance to win each of the new releases! I will also be doing Blog Candy very soon to celebrate my (just past) blogaversary, and 80K hits. Whodathunk anyone would want to read what I have to say? *grin*

Stamps: Great Expectations, Polka Stars (Verve Visual), Biased Stripe Backgrounder (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Paper: Brocade Blue, Basic Black (Stampin' Up!), Stampers Select White (Papertrey)
Ink: Buckaroo Blue (Stampin' Up!), Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Large Star Punch, Dimensionals, Ticket Corner Punch (Stampin' Up!), Distressor Tool, Stickles (Ranger), White Brads (Making Memories), White Glaze Pen (Sakura)

Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away.....

Does anyone watch Dancing with the Stars? Did yall think of me when you saw Cheryl Burke's dress? *grin* I loved it. All it was missing was a little bit of tulle to be absolute PERFECTION.

I'm sorry I've been absent. I'll try to do better, K? Well you know I will cause this week is the Verve release! You'll see sneak peeks tomorrow and Thursday so sit back and enjoy!

Here's a card I made over the weekend with last Wednesday's sketch challenge on SCS. Although it's clean and simple, I really like it! Ok that came out wrong. I like clean and simple. But I usually don't do it so well. This one, I like. (there, is that better?)

I played around a bit with watercoloring with my Stampin' Up! Markers, and found it to be a whole lot easier than I did the last time I tried it. I had better luck with a dryer waterbrush (if that makes any sense at all). The less water I used, the more control I had.

So the other day, we were driving down the road and my youngest son (looking up at the 1/4 moon) says, "Mom, I think Santa Claus eats the moon. It keeps getting smaller."

HAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!! That cracked me up. He just says these things, so matter of fact. Hilarious. Kind of like the time he asked if my friend/co-worker's dad had two heads. WTH?? I'd love to spend an afternoon in his brain.

Anywho, I hope you have a fabulous Tuesday, and I'll see you back here tomorrow!

Stamps: For a Friend (SU)
Paper: Regal Rose, Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black, Watercolor
Ink: Black
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Vintage Brads, Black marker, Waterbrush, Dimensionals, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer

G. L. A. M....O. R. OUS yeah, glamorous, glamorous, yeah foxy foxy...

Sorry for the song...it fit this image so well that I just couldn't help myself. *grin*

So did yall have a great week? I was sooo super busy at work, I'm sorry I didn't post like normal. Hopefully I'll be able to get some stuff made this weekend to share with you next week. Fingers crossed!

It's Saturday, and you know what that means, right? Yep! It's time for me to mess up another Sketch for You to Try! Not the card, mind you, but what would SFYTT be without me re-creating my own version of the sketch? *wink*

I was in the mood to watercolor, and wanted to play with my Rubber Romance Divas, who haven't been loved in a while. Here's what I came up with!

How cute is she with that sentiment?? I saw it at Inky Antics and had to have it to go with my divas and my Bellas. Perfect, huh? I looked and looked to tell you which Diva this was, but I couldn't find her online anywhere. Anyone know her name? ETA: FIONA!!!!!!! Thanks, Robin!

I had a blast watercoloring her! I used my waterbrush & reinkers, but also used my Stampin' Up markers...boy was that easier than I remember! I tried it a long time ago and just made a mess, but it was really fun. There's a great tutorial on Splitcoast, which you can find HERE.
The biggest hint is to let your image dry COMPLETELY in between adding colors and shading, and remove excess ink from your waterbrush before coloring. Too much water = big messy blob. Try it, you'll like it!

Anywho, you can see the real sketch on Jen's blog, along with Sarah's sample. And then don't forget to check out Amy, Carole, & Susan's versions. If you upload to SCS, make sure to use the keyword SFYTT so we can all check out your work!

Have a great weekend!

Stamps: Rubber Romance Diva-Fiona, sentiment from Inky Antics
Paper: Papertrey White, Basic Black, Soft Sky, Regal Rose, Watercolor (Arches)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Waterbrush, Reinkers, SU Markers, Dimensionals, Diamond Stickles, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Making Memories Slot Punch, May Arts Ribbon, Marvy Punches, White Glaze Pen

If all you have is leaving, I’m gonna need a better reason to write you a love song today...

I'm here, I haven't "suppeared" yet (more kid speak). I'm working hard and trying harder to find time to stamp! Hasn't happened yet, but I did find this card that I made FOREVER ago that I forgot to show you.

This was actually my very first attempt at coloring with Copic markers. Jen's such a great teacher!

I made this back in December, I think, and I really like how it turned out. I fell in love with the Punny Farm set from My Favorite Things when I made this card. It has to be one of my all time favorite sets.

Sorry, it's short and sweet again today. Thanks for stopping by to visit me!

Stamps: Punny Farm (MFT), Pretty Pattern Backgrounder (CHF)
Paper: Kraft, Basic Black, Real Red, Barely Banana, Papertrey White

To hear you say "This one's mine"....my heart is spoken for....

I wanted to let you guys know that My Favorite Things is having a very special sale for a very special cause. It runs today through Friday and Kim is offering 10% off all stamps when you use the coupon code TISH.

Here is the message from Kim (MFT’s owner):

A few months ago, I posted about a friend, Tish, who’d been diagnosed with a very rare form of ovarian cancer. Tish battled through 6 rounds of chemo only to discover two additional tumors, one on her spine and one in her stomach. My heart fell when I read her CaringBridge post which broke the news. Since her diagnosis last August, the family has held the motto of DRIVE ON! in dealing with this aggressive cancer and fought a valiant fight.

Tish lost her battle early Tuesday morning, and I found out about it late last night. Tish leaves behind two beautiful, young sons and a hubby, Todd, who I worked with for several years in my past life. I know Todd much better than I knew Tish, and know just how difficult this has been and will continue to be for the immediate future. Prior to Tish passing, a benefit was planned to help the family recover from the mounting medical bills and ensure a bright future for the boys, Tucker and Tanner. The benefit is still underway, but with a more solemn feel. My husband and I are donating some items to a silent auction, and this is a picture of the gift card holder for that auction. The content of the gift card is about $200 in MFT merchandise, and I know every little bit helps. But I want to do more.

Todd was the most compassionate, tender-hearted *boss* I’ve ever had, and I want more than anything to really help this family.

So what I’ve decided to do is two-fold: 1) Starting Tuesday, I am offering a 10% discount on ALL stamps on the site. Use the coupon code Tish at checkout to receive 10% off all all the stamps in your shopping cart. (It won’t discount your other merchandise, just stamps.) The coupon code will run from Tuesday, April 15th-Friday, April 18th. 2) I will donate 10% of ALL proceeds (including money spent on other items on the site) to the family at their April 26th benefit.

FYI***The discount is only for retail customers***

I am making it my goal to personally make the payments on the FL College Pre-Paid plan for the boys during an entire year which will be about $1200. Please help me reach this goal.

Slow Ride...Take it Easy....

Just a quick little post for you today, cause we're off to my mom's to play Guitar Hero!! I'm almost glad we don't have one here yet, because I don't think I'd do anything else! That thing is sooo fun.

Anywho, Beate's Weekend Sketch is one that I always intend to do, but never get time. I finally did this week...wahoo!

This stamp is just hilarious, in fact all the stamps in the Emerson line at American Art Stamp just crack me up. If you need a laugh, take a second and look through them. It'll make you smile for sure!

Anywho, this one's pretty self explanatory, except that ribbon really does match the cardstock, I promise!! *wink* For some reason the light pulled out some strange blue color in it. Anyway, have a fabulous Sunday afternoon!

Stamps: Men Are From Mars (American Art Stamp)
Paper: Cameo Coral, Basic Black, GP White, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black
Accessories: Copic Markers, Offray Ribbon, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Black Brads, Dimensionals, Marvy Punches

Sweet, sweet victory.......

We did it, we did it!! Anyone else singing Dora? *GRIN* I don't know what was wrong, but my computer would not let me upload photos from my camera or my memory card. I worked hard to get this to yall...I uploaded pics onto my hubby's computer, then emailed them to this one, then here we are! Whew.

I have been wanting to ink up my Ella and Looloo stamp FOREVER, and this week's Sketch for You to Try was perfect! I had such fun coloring this one...although there are some TEENSY spaces that are quite scary...we made it through alive.

The colors of this new Kaitlin collection from Crate Paper was perfect, so I used it for the three strips on my background. This card ended up taking a shabby chic turn that I wasn't expecting, but I quite like how it turned out. And the sentiment from Papertrey's Mixed Messages was the perfect finishing touch.

Well, thanks so much for being patient with me today through all my technical difficulty. Hopefully it was just a fluke and not something more serious! If you haven't already, make sure you check out the fabulous creations from Jen, Amy, Carole, & Susan using this sketch. And if you upload to Splitcoast, don't forget to use the keyword SFYTT so we can all see your beautiful work!

Have a great weekend!

Well you know those times when you feel like there's a sign there on your back...

Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do...

Ok, well it's not really that bad. But I've been trying for two hours to upload this durn picture of my SFYTT card. Nothing is working, and I'm getting reaaaaaaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyyyy frustrated. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be back later, hopefully with a card......

Du hebst mich liebend über mich, Mein guter Geist, mein beßres Ich!

Sorry, had to throw in a little Schumann. That's for you, Becky! The English translation (according to WikiAnswers-I totally can't remember it) is "you raise me lovingly above myself, my good spirit, my better self." Back in the day, I could sing the HECK out of this song! *wink*

Ok, on to the good stuff...

There's a new challenge on the Verve Blog! Julee picked out these gorgeous pillows as an inspiration challenge. Not only for the designers, but for you guys as well! And there's a PRIZE!! You can find all the deets in my post on the Verve Blog -->HERE<--.
Aren't those fun? I have been working with blue a lot lately, so I pulled out the yellow and decided to make a kind of monochromatic card. Then I decided to do a set of 3x3 mini cards. I like lots of throw pillows on my couch, so why not lots of little cards? *grin*

I stamped the leaves in Tea Stain Distress Ink around the edges of the white layer. Then I sponged and stitched the layer to the Saffron card base, which also made a nice little border. The large flower from Thankful Blossoms was stamped (also in Tea Stain) on Barely Banana cardstock, cut out, and then popped up on dimensionals. I also highlighted a little with my White Glaze pen. The final touch was the sentiment (from Thoughtful Florals) stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia. A fun and easy little gift set!

So grab your stamps and get your Verve on! And make sure you check the Verve blog for the next couple weeks for the rest of the Design Team's take on this challenge.

Happy Wednesday!

Stamps: Thoughtful Florals, Thankful Blossoms (Verve Visual)

Oh...and she never gives out, and she never gives in...

Ok, I have searched through my blog and I think I forgot to show you this card from the My Favorite Things release party last week. Bad Shannan! It was made with the new Happy Mother's Day set, and was probably my very favorite of all of the MFTeasers I did this go round.

I know, not the most conventional colors for a Mother's Day card. It started with coloring the image. I picked out the color for the dress because it looks fabulous on my mom. Then I found this polka dot paper that matched, so I just went with it. What do you think, too bright?

Here's a photo of the card with the belly band off. To create the "background" I stamped the sentiment from the Mother's Day set in Tea Stain Ranger Distress ink, then sponged the edges to soften them a bit.

The flower is from the Can Ya Dig It set, and I colored in the petals and center with my White Glaze Pen. I like how it filled in those dreaded spaces. *wink*

I hope you guys are having a great week. Stay tuned tomorrow for some Verve!

Stamps: Mother's Day Set, Can Ya Dig It

We can sit by the river while we heat up a tortilla, watch the Rio Grande go by real slow...

Just a quick simple card for you today, but it really makes me ready for summer! How about you? I've been working crazy hard on some stuff for publication, which I'll tell you about later, but I had to take a break cause my mojo did. Funny how that works, huh?

I was at Hobby Lobby last week and found this Wordsworth Vacation Collection set on clearance! The HORROR! Of course, I had to rescue it immediately. I took it home and immediately inked it up so it wouldn't feel unloved any longer.

I was aiming for the sweetness and simplicity that Anna always achieves...hopefully I did ok! I love the little extra *oomph* that the Liquid Appliqué adds on the edge of the sea. And of course, no card of mine is complete without ribbon! *wink*

Yesterday was hubby & my 6th wedding anniversary. I wish I had a wedding photo to share with you, but I don't have any digital ones. We haven't celebrated yet, since he had to work and I'm home with a kiddo with fever and a sink full of dirty dishes, but such is life! I hope you guys had a great weekend, and have a Happy Monday!

Stamps: Vacation Collection (Wordsworth)
Paper: Soft Sky, Watercolor, Basic Black, Papertrey White

Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got, I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block...

I am probably the WORST person EVER to RAK in the whole wide world. Don't get me wrong, I love happy mail! Love it! But I am HORRIBLE at posting it. I will try ever so much harder to post from now on. Thanks to anyone who has sent me happy mail...please know that I love it and appreciate every single one!

This bright cheery Cowgirl Carrie card is from my girl Charmaine. I love everything down to the twine and the glitter on her boots. Thank you so much, Charmaine! Hugs!

And this awesome owl card is from Donna Baker. When she posted this card on her blog, I commented that it cracked me up. It totally did! And she said she made it with me in mind! How funny is that? Thanks, chica! I can't wait to meet you in May!

I am working sooo hard on some projects for publication over the next few weeks, but I'll try to post as often as I can. Have a fabulous Sunday!

And I wanna thank you, for giving me the best days of my life

It's Saturday again! YAY! Time for another Sketch for You to Try. This one is an awesome one!! My Spiral Bouquet set hasn't seen ink in quite a while, so I decided to use it for today's card.

I also attempted to do this week's Color Challenge, but failed at that. I just couldn't get Apricot & Caramel in there. So here's my Color Cha card (since I only did it halfway). *wink*

Blush, Coral, and Chocolate have to be one of my favorite color combinations right now. And yes, I actually used some of the wide satin ribbon we've all been hoarding. *grin*

Make sure you check out Jen's blog today to meet our guest this month, Sarah Green! Amy, Carole, and Susan also have some eye candy for you using this sketch, so go by and say hi to them as well. If you play with us and upload to Splitcoast, use the keyword SFYTT so we can all check out your creations!

Happy Saturday!

Spinning, laughing, dancing to her favorite song...

It's a Norah Jones kind of day today. It's raining, which always makes me kind of mellow, unless there's big bad storms and tornadoes, which tend to come this time of year. Ahhh, Spring in Texas...my poor plants.

I thought I'd share this card with you today. I made it this past weekend when I was playing with the new C.C. Designs stamps, which will be available Friday morning at 12:01 a.m. I really love this image from the Birthday Set...it's sooo stinkin cute!
Since I have 2 boys, I wanted to make a boy-ish card, so I pulled the color combo from this plaid paper from My Mind's Eye. I colored him with a combination of Copics & reinkers (since I don't have a Copic marker to match Old Olive yet). The polka dot background stamp is from C.C. Designs as well.

You can see all the sneak peeks for the new releases on the All That Scraps blog, and there's still one more giveaway before the release tomorrow.

Have a fabulous Thursday!

Stamps: Happy Birthday, Big Ol' Backgrounds Polka Dots (C.C. Designs)
Paper: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Watercolor, Tres Jolie by MME
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Old Olive
Accessories: Vintage Brads, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Pop Dots, Copic Markers, Reinker & Waterbrush

We are the pirates who don't do anything, we just stay home and lie around...

Sorry, all these seed packets made me think of Veggie Tales. We have the "Silly Songs" tape and it cracks me up every time. Anywhooo...

So today is the My Favorite Things release day! Are you excited? I know I am! To celebrate, I decided to make a card using my Can You Dig It? set (available to order tonight) with today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast.

This was a super easy one, and I didn't want to clutter it up, so I left it simple and clean. I really like it! I must be sick lately, all that empty space...*wink*

I hope you'll join the fun tonight in the MFT Member company forum, which can be found -->HERE<--. We will have lots of fun (I *plomise*) and a chance for you to be the next MFT Guest Designer!! Make sure you stop by between 9-11 pm Eastern and say hi!
