I know, not the most conventional colors for a Mother's Day card. It started with coloring the image. I picked out the color for the dress because it looks fabulous on my mom. Then I found this polka dot paper that matched, so I just went with it. What do you think, too bright?
Here's a photo of the card with the belly band off. To create the "background" I stamped the sentiment from the Mother's Day set in Tea Stain Ranger Distress ink, then sponged the edges to soften them a bit.
The flower is from the Can Ya Dig It set, and I colored in the petals and center with my White Glaze Pen. I like how it filled in those dreaded spaces. *wink*
I hope you guys are having a great week. Stay tuned tomorrow for some Verve!

Oh I LOVE it!
Dang girl, you are GOOD!
Very nice card....love the belly band and the way you whitened up the flowers on the card....I must get working on a Mother's Day card! Joan
love the colours on this card... and Billy Joel reference :D...
OMW, this is fantabulous, Shannan! I adore the fact that you colored the dress according to what looks great on your mom. I think the colors are perfect - and the big polka dot paper is fabulous.
I guess I just assumed it all opened in the middle, with the centerpiece going to one side or the other. But a belly band is so much better!
Love, love, love this!!!
Another winner, Shannan!
