It's oh, so QUIET....it's oh, so STILL....

Just for now. The boys are all in bed, the dogs are sleeping, and I'm finishing up a night of stamping. I have a lot of Design Team deadlines fast approaching, so I decided to get to "work." I use the term loosely because it's more like play, but because I am committed to do it, it gives me a reason to hide out in here!

"Sorry, honey, I can't do laundry right now! I have deadlines!"

Sounds so important, doesn't it? I thought so too.

So here's one of my projects from tonight's toil... a sneak peek of what's to come from C.C. Designs in January. I loveeeeeeee these images!!! They are so cute and fun, and awesome to color!

I stamped this little guy in Palette Hybrid Noir on Pearlized White cardstock, then colored him with my few precious Copic markers. The ground under him was an A muse oval, but then I colored over it with black once I changed my color scheme. *wink*

For the pink polka dot background, I used the Behind the Scenes set from My Favorite Things. I do have a Polka Dot Backgrounder (and a few of her friends) on the way to me from Cornish Heritage Farms (thanks Jen...), but until they arrive, this set was perfect.

Well I hope you guys are enjoying your holiday...there is still time to enter to win the Verve Blog Candy on this post, so until then, have fun...I'll be slaving away working on my deadlines! *wink*

What Sweeter Music...

I've been listening to my John Rutter/Cambridge Singers Christmas CD...man I love that stuff. My faves? #10 and #17. It's a lot of stuff that I sang in Chamber Singers in college back in the day, and I sure miss that. Anywho...

So I'm finally taking time to rest. I made a few dishes to be cooked for Christmas lunch at my mom's, finished up wrapping the presents, and got the boys to bed. Whew! Only a couple little things left on my to do list, but my goal was to have it all done by tomorrow. Think I did good!

I did take a little stamping time for myself today to do a couple of challenge cards. The first one is for Amy's sketch challenge, and I decided to use my new Rain or Shine set from My Favorite Things. I really love the raindrops from this set, and decided to paper piece the umbrella with this yummy Crate Paper.

To do this, I stamped the umbrella in Versamark on the Polka Dot paper, then heat embossed the image with Clear Detail Embossing Powder and cut out the top. I stamped the umbrella again in Versafine Vintage Sepia on Papertrey White and glued the umbrella top down to cover the stamped part. A perfect fit!

One thing that clear stamp lovers can't say enough is that they love to curve the sentiments, and I totally agree! I placed the umbrella on my acrylic block, then curved the sentiment to follow the curve of the umbrella. Remove the umbrella, ink up the greeting, and stamp!

This next card was for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast. I loved this card of Chrissy's and decided to make a cupcake version. All of the images on this card are from the Icing on the Cake set from My Favorite Things.

I stamped the cupcakes in Versafine Onyx Black on Pearlized White and then colored them with blender pens and SU inks. I added Diamond Glaze to the cherries and fluff from my Marvy Puffy Velvet Fabric pen to the icing. YUMMO!

The frames are embossed in Seafoam White embossing powder on this pretty Robins Egg blue cardstock from Recollections. It's less green than Cool Caribbean, and I think I'm going to send a piece of it to Stampin Up to ask for a good blue. D'ya think they'll care?

I broke into my Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon for this one, and stamped the sentiment in Versafine Vintage Sepia to match. The white brads are covered in Diamond Stickles for a little extra bling.

Well I hope you enjoyed my double card post today...that may be it for a while! Don't forget to check out this post for some blog candy, and have a great Monday!

Spider Pig, Spider Pig, Does whatever a Spider Pig does...

I know, it's a little early for my Sketch for you to try post, but I think it's going to be an early bedtime night. After all the chaos this week, I think I deserve it!! Plus I have to get my beauty sleep...my birthday is coming!

So this sketch came about when Susan and I were stamping at Jen's last Saturday. I love it!! This is my first card with my Oh, So Lovely set...one I bought because of this card of Bethany's. Isn't it gorgeous?? I love her style.

I have been waiting on pins & needles for my new CC Designs stamps to come in...and yall just wait till you see the new Valentine sets. OMG! I keep checking my mailbox like a mad woman...the neighbors must think I'm insane.

Oh, one more thing. This is my 199th post, so my next post will be the blog candy post....how do you feel about a little clear Verve candy? Hmm??? Well, stay tuned, and make sure to check Jen's blog and Carole's blog for samples using this sketch. Susan is not feeling well, so send her some love and get well soon vibes! Love ya, Sus!

Stamps: Oh, So Lovely, Wonderful Wishes (Verve Visual), Borders & Corners Monogram Ed. (Papertrey)

Accessories: Waterbrush & Reinkers, SU Scalloped Punch, Paper Piercer, EK Success Circle Punch, May Arts Ribbon, Dimensionals, Corner Rounder

He sees you when you're sleeping...

Tonight we waited 2 and 1/2 hours to see Santa. I know, it's insane. But there's a reason!!

Last week Cole (my 5 YO) went to see a light show with his babysitter and the other kids she keeps. There was a Santa there, and he came home and told me with great sadness that he didn't get to talk to Santa because "It costes money to talk to Santa, and I didn't have any money." It just broke my heart! I told him that the REAL Santa doesn't cost money, and that one was a faker. I promised to take him to see the REAL Santa, that doesn't cost money.

So tonight we went to see the REAL Santa. He's at Northpark Mall in North Dallas, and he's seriously the real deal. He's a child psycologist who has been Santa for 20 years and does it every year for fun. Real beard, real tummy, the works. He's amazing. And free. AND they let you bring your digital camera and take pics behind the photographer. I've never seen anywhere that will do this!

I told Cole that he could ask Santa if he could pull on his beard to make sure he was the real Santa. But one look at him and Cole said he didn't need to do that, cause he was for real. "I can tell," he said.

The best part? When Santa asked what he wanted for Christmas, he began listing what his baby cousin Keegan wanted first. SWEET BOY!!!!! They had a great time even though we were there FOREVER.............which is all that matters, I guess!

Celebration...We're gonna celebrate and have a good time...

YAY! I snuck in some stamping time tonight after doing some Christmas shopping. I knew I wanted to make a card using Cindy's sketch challenge on the MFT Forum (My Favorite Things), and also for Celebrating MFT Day. I picked out this Tres Jolie paper by My Mind's Eye and got my color scheme from that.

The main image is from Meet Me at the Cafe, and it's stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black on Watercolor paper, then watercolored with reinkers and my Niji Waterbrushes. The table and glasses are coated with Diamond Glaze (same as Crystal Effects) to make them shine.

Then I pulled out my new Heartfelt Phrases from Verve Visual and punched out "you're on my mind" with my Word Window Punch in Soft Sky and sponged the edges to make it stand out.

Well, it's late here, I just wanted to get this posted before I go back into Christmas Oblivion. Going to see Santa tomorrow night, and the guy said the wait will be from 3-4 hours. GEEZ. Wish me luck...I'll be packing snacks.

Stamps: Meet Me at the Cafe (MFT), Heartfelt Phrases (Verve Visual)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Watercolor Paper, Tres Jolie MME
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Diamond Glaze, May Arts Ribbon, Jumbo Sponge Dauber, Word Window Punch, Aquapainter & Reinkers

I'm still here!!

I have been working like a mad woman trying to get teacher gifts ready for today (it's Caleb's last day of school and his holiday party), working, and finishing a scrapbook for my mother-in-law.

Tonight, we're going Christmas shopping (hanging my head in shame cause I haven't started yet!), and tomorrow night we're going to see Santa. Speaking of, yall have to see the pic of Jen's daugher and her first visit with Santa. {CLICK HERE} I laughed so hard that I almost choked.

I got my Verve Design Team package this week, so I'll have something to post soon, I promise!!! Don't give up on me! :)

Whatcha gonna do with all that junk, all that junk inside that trunk

So I was leaving the house on Saturday, taking the boys to Josh's grandmother's for the night, and I decided to check the mail before we left. I was going to Jen's for the evening to stamp with her and Susan. AAAHHH!!! My bellas were there!!!!! My brand spankin new bellas!!!! My boys didn't really appreciate that, but when I called Jen to tell her what I was bringing over, she was sure excited!!

So I inked up MWAH bella, which is my fave of the new ones, and perhaps my favorite of all (Shhhh!! Don't tell Daintybella!!) and made a quick card with her. Isn't she adorable??!!!

We sure had fun stamping last night...except that I didn't get home until about 2 am. I had a nice break...the boys stayed with "Mono" until about 1:00 today, so I slept until 12:30. *wink*

Good news, too! My mom is home and feeling much better. I just want to say that all your prayers and thoughts mean so much to me. Yall are the best PSF's ever!!!! MWAH to all of you!!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

Really? Please could someone tell Texas weather that it's Christmastime? It's raining outside. booo... I'd love some snow!!

So here's this week's card for Jen's Sketch for you to try. Do you ever try it? I'd love to see it if you do!! I had a major mojo problem earlier today, but after I took a break and visited this cool blog for a killer color combo (try saying that 3 times fast!!), I think we have a winner. You like?

I wanted a clean and easy card, since it's nearing 1 a.m. here and I don't feel good, so I made it quick and simple. I stamped the polka dot stamp from Polka Dots & Paisley in Close to Cocoa on my Ruby Red card base. Had to use the Stampamajig to line it all up right, for sure! Then I inked up the flower from True Friend with my Ruby Red and Close to Cocoa markers and did some doodling around the image. I also went over the dots around the flower & leaves with my Quickie Glue Pen & added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter for some sparkle. The center of the flower is a blue rhinestone brad from SU as well.

The rest is pretty simple, and I'm tired, so I'm gonna say good night for now. Make sure you check out Carole & Susan's cards to see their take on this sketch. Have a great day!

Here's the mail, it never fails...makes me want to wag my tail

When it comes I want to wail..........MAIL!!!!!!!!!
No I have not lost my marbles. Just singin a song. *grin*

I have gotten some happy mail over the last week or so, and thought I'd post it today!

This is a BRAK (birthday RAK) from Deb aka Crafty Turtle. She totally made my day with this gorgeous card! (My birthday is Christmas day, so you still have some shopping time left. lol)

I met Deb at the Arlington SCS Gathering in April and she is just the sweetest! Thanks, Deb!!

This awesome card is from Lila, who is my Design Team sista at Verve Visual. She also sent this awesome DCWV Rockstar bling...it totally made me smile! I'm hoarding it for something special though. ;) Isn't this card amazing?? I still can't figure out how she did it, but I love it!!!
Thanks so much, Lila! You're a superstar yourself!

This beauty is from Billie aka myboys on SCS. She sent me this and a totally cute reindeer stamp to say thanks for working on the ELFing project. What a sweetheart!! Thank you, Billie!!

And this last card is from my friend Denise aka Denidill. This card is JUST GORGEOUS!!!! You can't see it in the pic but the letters of the word "Snow" are all shimmery!
In other news, Carolyn aka Cammie tagged me, so I'll be back with some random things about myself later.
UPDATE ON MY MOM:
Mom came through surgery like a trooper. The doc said that there was definitely an infection, so he's glad they made the decision that they did. She feels so much better just having the infection out, and will probably be home on Sunday. Thanks so much for your continued thoughts & prayers. It means so much I just can't tell you!

This is my song, and this one's for you....I hope you don't mind

So...yep something a little different from me today. I have been eyeing these Crafty Secrets stamps for quite some time, and decided finally to order the Favorite Fellas set, since I don't have anything like it. I preordered them from Anna Wight at Sassy & Sweet Crafts and I seriously had them in my hands the day AFTER she mailed them. (Ok, so I do live less than 2 hours away from her...*wink*)

Anywho...she egged me on to use them, so I had to break from making a scrapbook for my mother in law to make this card.

Something else I tried that's new is Copic markers. They were on sale at Hobby Lobby, so I used some of my "lunch money" this week to get a few. (It's all DEBBIE OLSON'S fault!!) This is my first public showing of my Copic adventures....how did I do? They're actually quite fun to play with. Takes some getting used to, but fun for sure!

Do me a favor and keep my mom in your thoughts and/or prayers today. She is having surgery again due to the infection. A few months back she had a mastectomy and reconstruction, and now there is an infection, so all the reconstruction is coming out, probably for good. She's not feeling great and is ready to be healthy again. Thanks so much...I know I can always count on my PSF's!

Stamps: Favorite Fellas (Crafty Secrets)
Paper: Sahara Sand, GP White, Basic Black, Basic Grey
Ink: Palette Hybrid Noir, Tea Stain & Walnut Stain (Distress Ink)
Accessories: Vintage Brads, Copic Markers, Jumbo Sponge Dauber, Pop Dots

A Card and a Llama

So if you can't tell...I've moved on from Christmas cards for now. I am sooo over this grey and rainy weather we've had the last few days so I decided to make a bright and fun card. This is one that just fell into place...I love how it turned out!

I stamped the main image from Let's Go for a Walk at Jen's the other day in Brilliance Black on Watercolor paper. I colored it with my waterbrushes and reinkers. The rest of the card is pretty simple...I went for the Spots & Dots folder for the Caribbean base, and added a red panel matted in white underneath the main image. The sentiment didn't really show up in black, so I used my versamark and embossed it with Seafoam White embossing powder. The line (from the Papertrey Faux Ribbon set) is also embossed in white. Then I finished it up with some brads, a couple of Primas, and some stickles on the doggies' party hats for fun.

So yall asked...the car I got is a Honda Fit, which is a 4 door car-ish thing with a hatchback.

Yep, I got the silver one. This picture really cracked me up though...
Is that a llama?? So for all you llama fans and owners out there...this is the car for you!!! heheee

Stamps: Let's Go for a Walk (MFT), Sentiment from Paper Tray (PTI)
Paper: Basic Black, PT White, Watercolor Paper, Real Red, Cool Caribbean
Ink: Brilliance Black, Versamark
Accessories: Waterbrush, Reinkers, White EP, Primas, Vintage Brads, Pop Dots, Stickles, Spots & Dots Embossing Folder

We will, We will ROCK YOU

Soooo...if you haven't heard yet, Verve is going clear!! I am sooo excited!! In addition to SIX new sets released yesterday, Julee is releasing Remixed versions of Starlight Starbright and Wonderful Wishes in the clear photopolymer! Also, make sure to check out the Sale page for some awesome deals...there's some great stuff in there!

This card was very simple, and focused on the bling guitar, which Lila sent me...how cute is it?! She is such a sweetheart!! I cut out the guitar image from Real Red cardstock and then popped it up on mini pop dots on my White Cardstock. The rockstar sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and the stars in Bashful Blue. I thought the stars needed some stickles for a little more bling.

The background papers are from the Basic Grey Romani collection, which I admittedly don't use much since they're pretty bright and I tend to shy away from bright colors when I'm crafting for some strange reason. I love them in real life though! I tried to put two patterns together, a little like Amy does on her Scrap Stash Saturdays, but I didn't blindfold myself. Gotta work up to that! *wink* Some black ribbon and brads finished off the card for a little more "oomph"...whatcha think?

In other news, we bought a car today...it was a LONG evening, and can I just say that I really don't like car shopping. UGH. I'll just leave it at that. But I survived and have a vehicle.

Anyone not started their holiday gifts or shopping yet? ME! I have plans and lists, but nothing yet. Our tree isn't even up yet!! I guess I'd better get busy......

Stamps: Starlight Starbright (Verve Visual)
Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Basic Grey Romani DP
Ink: Bashful Blue, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: DCWV Rockstar Bling, Stickles, Black Brads (American Crafts), Pop Dots, Offray Ribbon

Santa Baby, hurry down the chimney tonight...

I have had these Basic Grey stamps for a while and they've been calling me...so I finally inked them up and made a card tonight!! I used last week's Sketch Challenge as the starting point, and then chose the Santa Baby image as the focal point for my card. Cute, huh??

I stamped Santa on Watercolor Paper (I use Fabriano brand from Michaels...it comes in a pad), in VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Then I created a mask of Santa and stamped the swirly holly image from Wonderland around him. It was a little stark, so I took my waterbrush (inked in Real Red from my Classic ink pad) and softened the image, and stamped over it again. The holly & berries were inked with Stampin Write Markers (Old Olive & Real Red), and I'm really impressed with how well these stamps took the markers. Pretty good, I'd say!

I don't know if you can see it, but the Real Red panels are stamped with snowflakes in the same ink.

So it's super cold here...it was 80 degrees yesterday, and right now it's 35. For Texas...that is super cold! I'd be ok if there was snow......

Have a great Monday!!!

Stamps: Basic Grey Santa Baby & Winterland
Paper: Papertrey White, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Real Red
Accessories: Old Olive & Real Red Markers, Waterbrush, Stickles, Vintage Brads, Paper Piercer & Mat Pack

You can never have too much *Sparkle*

ETA: Did I mention that there are THREE new Bellas?? Savvyshoppabella, ipodabella, and mwahbella (my favorite). OMG I loveyyyyyyy them! (as Em would say) ANNNNNNNNNNDDDD there's free shipping through today for orders over $25. Use this coupon code: 11b49b (CASE SENSITIVE)

Yep, I've officially lost it. I've taken to making tacky cards. Ok, not really (I hope), but this was my sample card for the challege I hosted for the Bella da Ball on Friday night. The challenge was to make a card that was sparkly, shiny, totally over-embellished, an "everything but the kitchen sinkabella" card. Julee also made a fabulous sample, and you can take a look at it here.

I also used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch, and I love how it turned out! I paper pieced Elizabella's dress with Basic Grey Blush paper, and added stickles and color to her shoes, purse, & belt. I thought this sentiment fit the challenge perfectly...and it's my favorite one from Starlight Starbright!!

Speaking of Starlight Starbright, Verve will be releasing a revamped version of this set in high quality clear photopolymer!! There will also be 6 clear sentiment sets released. Stay tuned to the Verve blog for more info!

Shabby Chic Shoppers

This was one of those cards that didn't end up the way I intended it to start. I still like it though!!

This week Jen has a great Sketch for you to try. I stamped this image and a bunch more at her house the other day, and I'm having a blast coloring them! My color combo came from this paper from My Minds Eye, which I stocked up on since it's discontinued. It's probably one of my very very favorites ever!!

So I'm going to be short & sweet tonight...I'm tired and ready for bed! Tomorrow holds a fun (yeah right) day looking at cars. Probably my least favorite thing to do, especially with 2 boys in tow. UGH.

Hope yall have a great weekend, and don't forget to check out Carole & Susan's take on this sketch!

I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you...

...Come Rain or Come Shine....
I love that song.
Whoops. blogging. sorry.

This is a card that I made for the My Favorite Guest Designer contest for My Favorite Things. I stamped a few of these images at Jen's the other day...man is this set cute!! It was just released and it's called Rain or Shine.

So the challenge Carolyn gave us was to make an ATC, and then to make a card to incorporate the ATC. It was hard!! Actually, coloring the image was the easiest and most fun part. I made her boots sparkly with a mixture of Diamond Glaze and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Then I painted the puddle with Diamond glaze and added some rain drops with it as well.

For the background paper, I stamped the Boho Blossom image first in Pretty in Pink, and then sponged Pomegranate ink directly onto the stamp. It's an easy trick to create the effect of the Rock N Roll technique without getting ink all over the place. Then I went over the paper with a waterbrush to soften it, and finally I spritzed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist. Some stitching with the sewing machine and I was all done!

I hope you like it...since I've gotten some of these images, be prepared to see more this weekend!

Stamps: Rain or Shine (My Favorite Things), Boho Blossoms (MFT), Thoughtful Phrases (Verve Visual)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Papertrey White, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Watercolor Paper

Good Morning, Baltimore!

I watched Hairspray tonight!! Man, I love that movie. Both the old and the new, but the new one is more family friendly.

This is a card I made last week for the Color Challenge & Limited Supply Challenge. I realized today that I really didn't limit the layers...OOPS. Sorry, Jen. I had a really tough time with these colors, it's still not my fave. Yall know how I feel about Bashful Blue! Ick. (Don't flame me!!!)

So when Zoofari was in the preview brochure, I hated it. Then I heard someone say that the birds looked constipated, and I immediately thought of this sentiment from A Muse. I had to get this set!!! So I hope you like it. It makes me giggle, anyway. *grin*

This is shaping up to be a crazy week with not much time to stamp...keep your fingers crossed for me! Have a great Tuesday!

Just another Manic Monday

Hi yall! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I meant to! Saturday was a really hectic day and my boys turned into demon children, so I didn't get any stamping time. Then yesterday my AMAZING sister took my demons, I mean kids, so I could have some quiet time. What did I do? Cleaned my stamp room! I still can't walk in it, but I did vacuum and reorganize my ribbon drawer. That's a job in itself.

I did manage to get a few cards made, so I'll share one of them with you. I've been wanting to play with my bellas lately, so I made this one for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast. I chose this card of RoseAnn's to CASE and changed the stamps, colors, and paper.

The main panel was cut and embossed with Rectangle Nestabilities (love these things!!) and then I stamped Veggiebella in Versafine Onyx Black. I colored her with prismacolor pencils & odorless mineral spirits and popped her up on Pop Dots for a little dimension. I have tons of this Stripey Stella Ruby paper (for some reason I thought I needed 10 sheets of it??), and I thought it would look great with this image. Hope ya like it!

On the homefront, my mom is out of the hospital and feeling good. Thanks for all the thoughts and kind words, yall are the best PSF's EVER!! I'll keep you posted, but they think it was just a skin infection. WHEW!

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Paper Accents Pearlized White, Stella Ruby
