My gift is my song....and this one's for you....

Hey guys, I'm so sorry my post is so late today!! The day really got away from me, and things just didn't work out as I had planned. Please forgive me! *grin*

So as usual, I fudged the sketch a little. But not to worry, I'm going back to the stamp room later to give 'er another go. Here's version 1.0

My son says, "Mom...why are the muffins yellow?" Nice. Well I hope you people know that these are in fact CUPCAKES, from the MFT set What's Up Cupcake. Love it!! Since there wasn't a birthday sentiment in there, I added one from another cupcake set, Hey There Cupcake from Stampendous. Another favorite! The polka dot background was done quickly with my Behind the Scenes set, and then I added the hardware and ribbon for the finishing touch. Hope you like it!

We'd love for you to play with us this week...make sure you use the keyword SFYTT if you upload so we can see your creations. Also, take a sec to check out what Jen and Dawn, Amy, Carole, & Susan have done with the sketch.

Ok, back to the room...I've got MFTeasers to prepare for!! *wink*

And I get this feelin' if I held you tight, you'd be seein' his and hers buckles, boots, and spurs...

Happy Friday, guys! I'm excited...we're cookin burgers for lunch at the office! Is it lunchtime yet? *grin*

Being Friday, that also means it's time for me to issue another Unity Inspiration Challenge. This week I surfed Z Gallerie's website and found this gorgeous piece of artwork titled Caffe Biscotti.

This week, I took the inspiration piece more literal than I have others...it just depends on how I'm feeling that night. I really loved the piece the way it was and didn't want to stray too far! Here's my card using Unity's Kit of the Month for June, Bliss and a Birdie.

For the main panel, I stamped Bliss in Chocolate Chip ink on Pearlized Cream paper (so it's nice and sparkly!!) and sponged the edges. Then I used the Cracked Glass Technique to give it that vintage look. I really like how it turned out, even though it's not my usual style.

I hope you have time to play along this week. I'd love for you to play even if you don't have Unity Stamps (yet!). Don't forget to use the keywords: UIC06, UNITY so I can see all of your gorgeous creations. Have a wonderful Friday, and stay tuned for a Sketch for You to Try tomorrow!!

Stamps: Bliss and a Birdie (Unity), Carte Postale (SU)
Paper: Pearlized Cream, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Clear EP, Bella Pearl Flatbacks, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Sponges, Ribbon (Joann)

In your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches, in your eyes the resolution of all the fruitless searches...

It's almost that time....for the Unity Release Party! Ok, well not almost. But it's closer than it was yesterday! *grin* It starts at 8 PM Central tonight, so be there or be square!

I can show you the full card (since I finished it) that I gave you a peek at yesterday.
I used the ice cream cone stamp from the new release called Mix Up of Cuteness. This is such a fun kit! It's not all ice cream themed, but I promise you will love it. All the images can be colored (or paper pieced, if you prefer), and they're a little smaller in size than Unity's normal stamps. This card measures 4" square, so that will give you some idea of the size.

I stamped the ice cream cone 3 times on hot press watercolor paper (it's sooooo smooth!!). One is the base image, one layer for the cone, and the last for the ice cream, fudge, and cherry on top! Lots of dimensionals gave their lives for this card. I think it was worth it in the end, though. *wink*

The sentiment is from another new kit called Jolly Little Winter, and is actually part of the word "Chilly." The word "just" is handwritten. I thought it was a fun little sentiment for the ice cream.

The next project I did used some of the images from Jolly Little Winter. I used the dancing penguin (doesn't he remind you of Happy Feet? so cute!), masked him, and then stamped the rolling hills on both sides of him.
Inside this little tin is a pair of warm, fuzzy socks to keep warm. I thought it would be a cute gift for a stocking or something like that. This is a nugget tin, so again that will give you an idea of the stamp size.

The sentiment is also from the Jolly Little Winter kit, I just stamped it separately. Penguin dude is colored with Copic markers, and then I added some White Liquid Applique for snow.

So, what do you think? I hope you like what you've seen! I'll have a few more projects to share tonight, along with the rest of the Rockin' Design Team. Angela will also be giving away prizes, and the first 25 orders will receive 25% off! Cool, huh? Hope to see you tonight!

Mama said there'll be days like this, there'll be days like this my Mama said...

Today is a busy, busy day for me! I'll be posting twice today...once with some Verve samples, and then later this afternoon with my Unity Sneak Previews. WHEW! So many stamps....so little time. What's a girl to do? *wink*

So today is the Verve Release, and the stamps are up and ready to be seen! Did you check them out yet? And did you notice that the site has a new look? Julee changed the blog the other day, and it's totally fabulous! Now the site matches. What do you think?

One of the surprises this time around is the release of a new line called Plain Janes. These are single stamps that will be added regularly and are only $3 each!! Here's a look at the first one.

Isn't it awesome? I have been bugging Julee forever (it feels like) for some scripture stamps in Verve's signature fonts. And my wish came true!!! I {heart} this stamp, and can't wait to see what else is coming!

Now here's one I made with Feeling Groovy. You know I love this one, cause all the sentiments are from song lyrics! I used this week's color challenge, which was to use Teal, Wasabi, and White. Hmmmm....
Although I would never put this combo together, I really like how it looks. Nice, clean, and well...Groovy! And now you'll be singing this song all day! *grin*

And finally, here's a card for my friend Em, the Stamping Bella herself, who is 29 years young today. *wink*

I used the Chichiboulie Patricia Birthdaycake stamp along with the new All About You sentiment set from Verve. I love this for a birthday! It reads, "Hope today knocks your socks off!" I am hosting a Bella Challenge HERE for all you girlies that want to wish Em a happy day. Check it out! {SIDENOTE: Em is offering FREE SHIPPING for her birthday...check her blog for details}

I hope you guys enjoyed my Verv-a-licious cards today! Stay tuned for some Unity Goodness later! Happy Wednesday!

A teardrop rolled down Bubba's nose...from the pain the song was inflicting...

I told you this week would be full of sneak peeks, didn't I? Here's one from Unity, which will be released on Wednesday. Angela is releasing 11 new sets, and they are all TOTALLY AWESOME!! Here's a tiny peek at a project that I'll show tomorrow.

Make sure you check out all the Design Team members blogs for some more peeks. There is even some free rubber to be had, so go check it out! Links are on the right sidebar.

We will be hosting a Release Party in the Unity Forum on SCS on Wednesday the 25th, from 8-10 pm Central. There will be challenges and giveaways, so we'd love you to join us if you can!

Also, don't forget the giveaways on the Verve Blog...you have until tonight to throw your hat in the ring to win some free stamps! Have a great day!

Something whispers in my ear and says, that you are not alone....

Yay for more stamping time! I hope you guys had an awesome weekend. What did you do? I'd love to hear about it!

I finally got some play time with my new Verve sets. Here's a preview of the new (yet to be released) set called Here for You, which will be available on Wednesday. I love this one!!

The color combo (I know, it's "Carole-inspired" aka BRIGHT!) came from the Copics I picked to color in the flower. For the sentiment to have an impact, I wanted a big, bold flower wish softer ones in the background. You like? I hope so!

Make sure you check out the Verve blog for a chance to win this set and another sentiment set. You won't be disappointed! Have a wonderful Monday!

Stamps: Here for You, Thankful Blossoms (Verve)
Paper: Basic Black, Regal Rose, Marigold Morning, PTI White, Robin's Egg Blue (Recollections)
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Marigold Morning
Accessories: Pop Dots, Sewing Machine, Thread, Paisley Embossing Folder, Bella's Dots (Stamping Bella)

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads you where you want to go...

My sister and I took my dad last night to see Rascal Flatts...we had so much fun! We were out late, and I'm still too pooped to pop! Before we left though, I did get a chance to make a Sneak Preview card for the Verve release on Wednesday. Priorities, right?

I used Emily's awesome color challenge from this week, which was to use Kraft, Soft Sky, and Black. Love it!! The set I'm previewing today is called Asian Flair, and will be available to purchase on Wednesday. Whatcha think?

Cool, huh?! I stamped the geometric square pattern on the Sky card base in Soft Sky ink, then sponged and embossed it with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. To get the squares perfectly centered on the white strip, I cut a 2" strip and drew pencil lines (with my ruler, of course) 1/2" in from the top and bottom. This gave me a good 1" path to stamp my squares. The rest came together on its own...which is just what I needed since I was griping that my mojo was lost! I guess it was just hiding under the mess on my desk. *grin*

For more projects using the Asian Flair set and a chance to win it, check out the Verve Blog today. Make sure you check back Monday and Tuesday for more samples and giveaways, and then Wednesday for the big reveal! Have a fabulous Sunday!

Stamps: Asian Flair (Verve Visual)
Paper: Papertrey White, Basic Black, Soft Sky, Kraft
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Soft Sky

Whooooooooo are you, hooo hooo, hooo hooo....

Sorry, couldn't help it. *wink*

It's Saturday again (funny how that happens...), and time for another Sketch for You to Try! This week's sketch is a fun one...I hope you have time to play along. I recently got some images of U R A Hoot (from the Kim Hughes Collection at Cornish Heritage Farms), so I thought I'd use them for this week's sketch. Whaddya think?

I colored the owl and branch with Copic Markers, cut them out, and popped them up on my Kraft square panel. There's also a tiny peek at a new Verve stamp....shhhh!!! Don't tell!!! *wink*

I feel like my Mojo has been missing lately, which is not good considering I have 2 releases coming up! If you see it, will you send it my way?

Don't forget to be inspired by Jen's project, and Dawn's (on Jen's blog) as well as Amy, Carole, & Susan's take on the sketch. If you decide to play along, please use the keyword SFYTT so we can all see your awesome creations!

Happy Saturday!

Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand, sometimes you turn your back to the wind...

When I sat down last night to make my project for the Unity Friday Inspiration Challenge, I had "Life is a Highway" stuck in my head, so I now pass it on to you! *grin*

Today's challenge is to be inspired by the Unity Stamps Banner on Splitcoast. Isnt' it the coolest?
I chose Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, and Kraft paper to get the Unity colors and "feel" for my card. And because of the song I was humming, I knew I wanted to use my Leave a Trail stamp....I love that quote.

I stamped the circles from Circle of Thanks in Turquoise ink onto my Kraft panel, then distressed and stitched around the edges. Then I stamped Leave a Trail on my Vanilla cardstock, and trimmed closely. I added another circle on Chocolate Chip cardstock for the mat, and trimmed around the edges to imitate the Unity logo.

The finished card measures 5.25 square, but due to the hardware (love it!) I probably won't be mailing this puppy! I think this would be a perfect card for so many different situations...graduation, new job, encouragement...just off the top of my head.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you have time to play, please make sure to link it up HERE, and use the keywords UIC05, UNITY. Stay tuned later today for Celebrating MFT Day!! Happy Friday!

Stamps: Leave a Trail, Circle of Thanks (Unity Stamp Co.)
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla, Kraft, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Distressor Tool, Sewing Machine & Thread, Pop Dots, SU Ribbon, We R Memory Keepers Hardware, Waterbrush

Do, do you have a first aid kit handy....

Hey ma! Guess what? I stamped!!!

Sorry I've been gone so long guys, I feel like I totally abandoned you! But I didn't....I promise... I'm still here! Just super busy. Thanks, everyone for checking on me, I'm doing good.

I did a little stamping just for fun tonight, and thought I'd play in the SCS Sketch Challenge for this week. Here's what I came up with!

I wanted to play with my new Cosmo Cricket paper from Jacksonbelle Embellishments, so I paired it with It's a Mod, Mod World....love that set! Do you think this qualifies for Carole's challenge, too, since I used yellow and green and a busy pattern? Worth a shot, right? *wink*

Anywho, nothing's really new with me! It's a super busy time of year, but I'm hoping for a break around the 4th of July. Time to hit the pool! There are some new things I'm prepping for...there are two releases coming next week - one from Verve and one from Unity. I can't wait! Sneak previews will start on the Verve blog on Sunday, so make sure you stay tuned...

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Stamps: It's a Mod, Mod World (The Cats Pajamas)
Paper: Basic Black, Georgia Pacific White, Hello Sunshine - Cosmo Cricket
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black
Accessories: Wide Grosgrain Ribbon, Pop Dots, Stickles, Copic Marker

It doesn't even matter if I show up in a bad mood, they're gonna make me laugh and change my attitude...

My girlfriends!! I have had an incredibly tough few weeks, and as if by magic...RAKS (aka Random Acts of Kindness) started showing up in my mailbox mixed in with the usual bills. I just had to take a second (although late!) to say Thank You...

This gorgeous Texas Bluebonnet card is from Laurie Wilson aka tx stamper. Not only is this card GORGEOUS!!! but she totally made my day with what she said inside. Hugs, Laurie!!

This one from Nicole Cooke made me laugh out loud! It came on a day when I really needed to laugh. Thank you, Nicole!!

This beauty came to me from Jill. Does she know that this made my day?? I don't know, but she sure did! And boy does she have some stinkin' cute stuff on her blog! Check it out!

This sparkly one is from my girl Julee. It came today, and boy did I need that scripture today. Thank you so much, Julee!

And saving the best for last, this cutie is from Jessie. Inside it reads:
Dear Shannan (aka Enabler),
This is all your fault!!!
-Jessie

LOLOL....you know you like it!!!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to those who had a little inkling to send me a card in the last few weeks...it meant more than you know.

Hugs to all my PSF's!!!!

Where is the love.........

Here I am!!! I am back! Didja miss me? *grin*

This week was a killer....I was out of town all week for work, and then went to San Antonio on Friday for a little visit with Julianna. If you're new to my blog or don't remember, you can read this post to learn who she is and why she's important.

Here's a pic of us being silly.

She's looking at me like...what the HECK is wrong with her??? Seconds before the camera clicked, she was acting just as nuts as I was. It was really fun.

Anywho, it's time for another Sketch for You to Try, and I finally got my card done! WHEW! I colored a bunch of images last week before I left, so I used one of my new Bella Fairies, Betty Bombshell. I loveeeeee her!!

I don't know what I was thinking when I picked these colors, but luckily the Basic Grey Baby Boy papers matched her...YAY! I turned the sentiment from Verve's Great Expectations set into a one line instead of two so it would fit along the bottom of my horizontal strip. To do this, ink up the first line with markers, stamp, clean your stamp, then ink up the second line and line it up. Super easy!

Thanks for being patient and still coming to see me today! Make sure you check out Jen's blog for her and Dawn's creations, as well as my girls Amy, Carole, and Susan. If you decide to play with us this week, please use the keyword SFYTT so we can all check out your creations, k?

Have a great Saturday!

Chain, Chain, Chain....Chain of fools....

Sorry for leaving you hanging for so long, guys! I wanted to let you know that I am out of town for work and will be back for Saturday's Sketch for You to Try (hopefully). If you need me, please feel free to send me an email. I have some awesome RAKS to show you, but I forgot to take pics of them! GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Have a great week!

I've got a bubbly bunch of coconuts...deedleedee...

Good morning, yall! (Ok, it's not so much morning...I slept in a bit, but you know what I mean.) It's Saturday, so that means it's time for another edition of Jen's Sketch for You to Try! It's also the first week of June, so we get to welcome a brand spankin new guest...Dawn Easton! I'm a huge fan of Dawn's work, so I was thrilled when Jen said she was playing with us this month!

I got a giant package the other day from Stamping Bella, so I decided to ink up Leaning Tower of Stella ... oh, how I love her. And of course, I had to pair her with Basic Grey Cupcake paper...so fun and happy!
I stamped her in Brilliance Graphite Black (still my favorite ink for Copic Markers) and colored her using tips from Marianne's new blog. Have you seen it???? If you have Copics, this is a MUST READ!!

Here is a close-up so you can see the details on the image:

I added Stickles on her wand and tiara, Liquid Applique on the cupcake top (then colored with a Copic marker), and Diamond Glaze on her lips and shoes for shine. A Bella Dot finished off the top of the cupcake...it was a non-matching pink, so I colored it with a red Copic marker. Perfect for the cherry on top.

That's it for today...don't forget to check out samples from Amy, Carole, Jen & Dawn. Say a prayer for Susan's computer, which is undergoing surgery because it died on Wednesday. And if you upload to SCS, please use the keyword SFYTT so we can all see your awesome creations!

I hope you guys have a fabulous day...we are (barring rain) going swimming later, and hanging out with family. Happy Saturday!

Friday, June 6, 2008

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone in the front seat of his car....

Hey yall! I hope you're having a wonderful Friday! I have another Unity Inspiration Challenge for you this week. As I was surfing Martha Stewart's website yesterday I stumbled on this gorgeous picture...looks like a summer project for hubby if I ever saw one!! *grin*

The one thing that stuck with me was those little tea lights hanging from the arbor. I tend to focus on one or two details from an inspiration piece and build my project from there, so I took the flowers from Flirty Flowers, inked them up with Stampin' Write Markers, and stamped them onto Vanilla cardstock like little hanging thingies. Then I stamped them a second time on scrap paper, cut out the larger images, and popped them up on pop dots for some dimension.

The circles on the card base are also from the Flirty Flowers kit. There are a ton of images to choose from, and they all work together so well! The sentiment made me smile, so I added that to the bottom.

I also want to take a second to do a SHOUT OUT to the eight (yes, I said EIGHT! WOW!) new Unity Design Team members that were announced yesterday:

Lauren Meader
Jennifer Buck
Amber Hight
Natalie Dever
Heather Brown
Patter Cross
Ana Wohlfahrt
Maren Benedict

Congrats, ladies! We are happy to have you!

Some new developments at Unity...Angela is now offering $5.00 shipping on ALL ORDERS! I was soooo excited to hear this news! I hate paying for shipping....now there's more money for stamps! Check out the other special she has going on HERE.

Have a wonderful rest of your day, and check back tomorrow for another Sketch for You to Try! (aka a Sketch for Shannan to Mess Up!)

Stamps: Flirty Flowers (Unity Stamp Co)
Paper: Berry Sorbet (PTI), Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Markers, Dimensionals, Bella's Dots, May Arts Ribbon, Corner Rounder

And all I wanna do is let it be and be with you, and watch the wind blow by...

Today is Caleb's last day of second grade...where did this year go? And true to form, I was up super late (after partying with the girls at the MFT Cocktail Release Party!) finishing up gifts for his teachers. Here is the finished product:

Inside the cute little basket is a set of 6 cards using the newly released Annie LaPoint Images from My Favorite Things Presents, packaged in a clear box from Papertrey. You can see a card detail pic below. Also included is an altered notebook I got at Target, and a little tin with chocolates in it (tin from Gina K Designs), and a thank you letter from Caleb.

I was very proud of how the notebook turned out. I separated the wires, removed the front & back covers, and covered them with Sweet Blush card stock (also from Papertrey). The Spiral punch matched up perfectly with the holes for the wires. I covered 2 chipboard coasters with Crate Paper and cut out the word "Notes" with my Cuttlebug & Red Tag Alphabet. (Near CRISIS....my B Plates BROKE! Both of them!! But I got the letters I needed first...whew!) Some layers & stitching, and then I added some of Stamping Bella's new DOTS to finish it off.

You can click on the pic to enlarge and see those yummy dots up close...these are the Pink Orchid (I think?) Glitter Dots. They are the smallest of the 2 sizes and they are just gorgeous! I will be working on a few more projects with them in the next few days, but I just wanted you to see them. YUM!

And here is a picture of the cards. I wanted them to be simple (quick & easy!!), cute, and easily mailable. The images were all stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black ink, colored with Copic Markers, and then cut out with the largest rectangle in the Small Classic Rectangle Nestabilities set. Matted with black, add some ribbon and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, and voila! A cute set of cards that took me just under an hour, start to finish.

I think these stamps were my favorite of the new MFT Releases, which can all be found HERE. There will be more in the coming months, so stay tuned!

Thanks for coming to visit today...I hope you have a fabulous Thursday!!

Like a froggy, ferny cabbage, the baby is unnaturally...GREEN!!!

Sorry...I've been listening to the Wicked soundtrack, and now it's stuck in my head. That and the Indiana Jones theme song, but that one doesn't have words.

I have a couple more MFTeasers to show you today...this time with the Congrats All Around set. This is such a fun set, complete with large circle images that fit in the Marvy punches, and little coordinating images for several occasions. My favorite HAS to be this little "burrito" baby.

I recently picked up some more Versamagic Dew Drops in pastel colors because they work sooooo well with my clear stamps. So I decided on a purple and green color scheme. One of my girlfriends is expecting a baby girl in September and these are her favorite colors, so they were totally inspired by her.

I stamped the "flower" in Spring Pansy on white cardstock, and punched out the center with my 1 1/2" circle punch. Then I punched the flower out with my Mega Scalloped Circle, creating kind of a do-nut. Then I punched a Super Jumbo circle of Plum cardstock, and then a 1 1/4" circle of White. The baby was stamped and colored on a scrap, cut out, and popped up in the center. To finish it off, I popped up the donut flower ring on thicker pop dots, so it sticks up a little bit more than the baby. I really like how it turned out!

Next I decided to make a card for Josh's dad, who just got a new puppy. I got out my Die Cuts with a View Pet Stack and went to work!

This one is pretty straightforward. Again, I used the Marvy Mega & Giga Scalloped Circle Punches, along with a 1 1/2" Circle punch for the inside. I thought the sentiment from the Friends Furever set was the perfect touch!! It is stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

Don't forget to join us tomorrow...there will have some HUGE news to share from My Favorite Things, so stay tuned to the Forum for all the details!

Starry eyes that make me melt, right in front of me...

So...there's more Chicken Pox at my house! After his nap on Saturday, my youngest had a few. Now he has a BUNCH. Poor guy. At least I know and am not telling him it's a heat rash! *sigh*

Ok, before I go further, there's a few housekeeping things I have to tell you.
  • First of all, I'd like to say a big SHOUT OUT to my girl Maren, who not only was the Featured Stamper on Sunday, but is also Unity's Guest Designer for the month of June. YAY MAREN!!!
  • I announced our May/June Guest Designer on the Verve Blog...Natasha Trupp!!! Go leave her some love on her blog!
  • BIG ONE: Kim is giving away an MFTreat! And it's a biggie...the ENTIRE JUNE RELEASE. Sorry, I don't mean to shout. But that's almost $60, people!! Go visit THIS POST on her blog to get entered. K?

Ok, now that's out of the way, here's my MFTeaser for the release this month. This is probably my most favorite release EVER from My Favorite Things, so yall just better be prepared! Oh, and get out your sunglasses, it's kinda bright...

Fun, huh?? I stamped the main image twice on Watercolor paper, and colored the floor and wall on one, and the girl chair on the other. I cut her out and popped her up so there would be a nice little shadow. Love the way that looks, if I do say so myself! *grin*

As usual, My Favorite Things is hosting a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, June 4 from 9-11 p.m. Eastern time. LOTS of fun (and a surprise release - YAY!) is planned including finding out how YOU can be the next MFT Guest Designer. Join us in the MFT Forum for all the details about the party! See you there!
