I'm a Challenge MACHINE!

ETA: We have a winner!! See this post for details!!

Ok. I just have to tell you that I LOVE this set. Seriously. Really. I don't think I can explain it. But I really love it.

This is the card I made for this week's color challenge. I'm so proud that I did it within 24 hours...this is such a big deal! And I'm totally LOVIN this combo...I think I will use it again & again.

I didn't have Basic Gray ink, but I did have Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink in Charcoal, which I think was a pretty good match!

But I'm thinkin the bottom right corner of the flower panel needs something. Piercing? Photo corner? I put a LOT of stuff on this card, and I'm always afraid of white space. lol Whatcha think?

I still like the way this turned out, and I hope you like it too!

Ok, so on to the good stuff. Blog candy.

Tell me what you'd like to see in the next fresh new stamp set. Anything goes. The weirder the better. lol

Comment on this post, and continue until I reach 25,000 posts. I will then use Random.org to choose a winner... and the winner will recieve one of Verve Visual's upcoming November stamp set releases. Trust me, you will love what's coming!!

Stamps: French Script, True Friend

Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Charcoal Fluid Chalk Ink, Soft Sky

Cute!!! Hey, did you hear that Recollections is closing early 2008?? What is up with that?

Anonymous said...

Don't fear the white space.

this is stunning. you rock girl!!

I think I would like to see some ovals, tags with various sayings you can put inside. And of course, a big ol' flourish to stamp behind it.
Thanks for sharing..

I believe with all my heart that if there were no SCS challenges, that my stamping life would shrivel up and die! :) I need someone to jump start me and I can thrive from there. I would LOVE to see more masculine sorts of stamps, for both men and boys. I have no ideas of what to use, but there must be some genious that does. :) I love the Bronc Buster now, but there's not a whole lot for men who aren't into hunting and fishing. KWIM? Thanks for the blog candy chance. You're card turned out gorgeous!

Okay, now I'm starting to see why you love this set so much! You work wonders with it. :) I think it has the perfect amount of white space and is beautiful as is!

kc_froglady said...

I think your card is wonderful! I love the use of the 3 ribbon bows at the top but then at the bottom the 2 mini brads! How cool - Think I will have to give that a try! I also like the color choices - just got a Charcoal ink pad also and am enjoying playing with it. Anyway I don't think you have any "neked" space issues on the card but if you are looking for something then why not have the new stamps be corner flourishes or doodads to fill that "neked" space?

I love your blog and visit you daily.. :)

Very nice card! I don't mind the white space. Overall it looks balanced, but that's my opinion. Thanks for the chance to win some goodies. Sandra

love your card - all your creations are great!! I'm with Melody, I love to see realistic outline flowers that can be colored in - not solid images.

Love this card! I think it's just right the way it is. I definitely LOVE SCS challenges, they get my mojo going when I need it. I would love to see some baroque sets with the western flair like this set and others for Verve Visual. I love what they have so far and can't wait for Winter Wonderland to come back in stock!

Tami Grandi said...

Your card is absolutely gorgeous! I love this set too! And, if you don't like- well, send it to me- I'll take good care of it-haha :)

Anyway, I would love to see a versatile set- something for man and woman and girl and boy with LOTS of sentiments

This card is fantastic, love it, I would not add anything to it. It depends on how you see things, I am an asymetrical person. Beautiful card, love everything about it.

Great card! I would like to see more sentiments. The first VV set intrigued me because I loved the fonts--they need to make more!

I am getting married in May 2008 so I would love to see some wedding type stamps. btw your card ROCKS!

AJ said...

Okay~ you know me.....I like a little white space on my cards. ;)
It's just right, the flower leaning towards the left balances the space on the bottom. Step away from the card!!

don't fear the white space! it's perfect the way it is.

I love your card the way it is...but if you think something is needed in the lower right corner, what about taking away the two white brads from the left and adding two colored brads to the white on the right? Just a thought...

What would I like to see...some animals...I love the doodle/flourishy stuff and would love to see it translated into animals...

Dana said...

I was sooo going to offer blog candy this week of a new VV release! You beat me to it!

Fantastic card though...there is so much to look at! I like the white space personally, but maybe, MAYBE a few pierced holes would be ok. *wink*

As for what I want in a stamp set: kids things. Like for kid's BD and get well when they are sick. Both for boys and girls. No cutesy, just maybe some vintage toys or something?

I always think I have white space.. but, as most will tell you, it's not really noticeable. you do such fab work!!! Maybe some small background stamps for those of us who think we need them.. LOL

Teresa Lin said...

Hi Shannan, This is my first visit to your blog. What a treat it's been! Your cards are absolultely stunning. I'm a scrapbooker who is making a jump into stamping/cards. Being involved in a stamp club enables me to get my feet wet. I have yet to make a card at home by myself. Seeing your work gives me inspiration. You truly have a gift. Thanks for sharing.

paperfrenzy said...

The card doesn't need anything more! The white space is great!!! Stunning card, BTW!

As far as "new" stuff... I would like to see some more "Jacobean"-style images! Those fantastical flowers intrigue me -- and what FUN to color!!!

Thanks for the chance to share (and, possibly, win! LOL!!!)

I think your card rocks! It's totally georgous! New stuff? Well, some great masculine stuff would be good! I hope they have some nice surprises in store for us too~

Anonymous said...

WOW!!!! This really is incredible! I Love the colors, scallops, fantastic job!

Allison Rankin said...

Super card...love all the layering! As for stamps? I hate to be redundant but something masculine that isn't cutesy or stereotypical (fishing, golfing, etc.). TFS!

Donna C. said...

This card is wonderful. I love the color combo. Hoping I can win the set.

MelissaS said...

Great card. I think the white space is fine! Thanks for sharing.

Pegg S said...

Gorgeous card!! This True Friend set will not be available soon right??? Hmmm...

I would love to see Indian related style of stamps. I haven't come across any. I collect miniatures too -- would love to see a stamp set for antiquers/collecters!!

Julie Campbell said...

Oooh! Love your card! (hey, and your watermark adds just the perfect touch to that corner!) LOL!

I would like to see a masculine FUNKY set. NO hunting, NO boring ties, NO tool belts allowed! Just something really great for a guy who's kind of hip!

WOW, Shannan! What an awesome give-away prize!!! Thank you so much for a chance to win :)

I just love the dimension you got with the flower on your color challenge card...it really POPS!

What I would like to see in a stamp set is anything that coordinates with a DP pattern. Like that great Figgy paper! I think cards look so pulled together when the main element coordinates with the background.

Beth said...

Your card is *stunning* - don't change a thing!
As for new stamps - I'd love to see some mountainscapes or seascapes for watercoloring. Heck, I'm not fussy - ANY new stamps are always fun!

Anonymous said...

I think your card looks great! Don't do anything else! :) lol Very cute. I usually get stuck making a bunch of bday cards, so I love to see inspiration for them. :)

Angel said...

I love the card. A photo corner may be good. I'd have to see it. But the white is fine!
I'd love to see some fun quotes. I love quotes!! You can tell by my blog. lol Can't wait to see the new VV stamps!

Suzanne said...

Well, I just posted this on Dana's blog, but I'd like to see some nice camper stamps! DH and I camp, but not in a tent in the woods! No one seems to make a stamp set that has a travel trailer (maybe a pop-up too!), maybe a trail, bath house, picnic table, hayride, things like that!

I also just noticed someone here said a good masculine set that has nothing to do with fishing or hunting.... I AGREE!

Shelby said...

Can I say the same as I posted on Dana's blog?? :)

I want to see books in a stamp set! They're really hard to find...

Great card; I have this set on my stamp table now ready to do something with it and the Apple Cider DP. Love the button in the middle of your flower. I would like to see more folk art stamps: dance, music, quilting, woodcarving. Thanks for the chance to win...and I like white space in a card; IMO, I wouldn't add anything more to yours. It looks wonderful.

Jan Scholl said...

I love greys when used so nicely. I have a whole pack of grey paper I should get out because I think they will be a good cool neutral this winter.

I need something goofy to work with as far as stamps. HOw about some silly cats? Or even sillier people?

Unknown said...

This would be a great basic card to save and stamp the sentiment as needed. This is a color combination I would not have tried on my own. Thanks!

Ok, you want something weird?? I would seriously like a stamp of a real looking man with lots of muscles. (a hot hunk) It could be PG-13 with the guy only wearing underwear...That way I can make cards for my girlfriends that I normally have to buy in stores!! I can only imagine the sentiments!
Thanks!

Hmmm. I would absolutely love to see a stamp set that is devoted to grandparents. But not a goofy, cartoony stamp set, a really nice artist sketch type set, with say a grandma picking flowers with a grandchild, grandpa digging in the dirt, etc. That's on my wishlist of stamps that I wish someone would design!!
Oh, and I really think this card is awesome. In fact, I didn't want this set until I saw your card.

Absolutely beautiful!! I love it as it is but we are our own worst critics so don't fret about it needing something else. I am sure that whatever you feel it needs will jump out at you after you leave it sitting for a while.

As for what I would like to see as far as new stamps goes -I am always stumped when it comes ot male and childrens cards. These are a real challenge to me so I would love to see some basic action figures for males/children Also more funky looking car stamps would be great too.

Of course matching sets of floral stamps - like someone said you can never have too many floral stamps.

Thanks for the chance to win some blog candy.

Gorgeous Card! It doesn't need anything, but only idea I could come up with is... an outline small gold flourish or floral corner sticker? or even a small stamped corner in the red again floral/flourish...?? Love it as it is though.

Besides my answer on Dana's site, I would also love to see funny, cute characateurs with different fun sayings - I find humour immitates life. Thanks for the chance. :)
