A Ladybug for the Teacher

My baby is started 2nd grade...I can't believe it. He didn't even want me to take him to school...he wanted to ride the bus! Can you believe it??? He didn't win, BTW. :D

This is a card I made for the color challenge on Splitcoast this week, which was to use Soft Sky and Groovy Guava. I knew I wanted to do something to send to Caleb's teacher on the first day, so I went to my trust Little Lady set from Papertrey Ink.

I stamped the large ladybug in Guava & Palette Hybrid Noir on Papertrey White Cardstock. Then I stamped her trail & the sentiment (which I think is PERFECT for the first day for a 2nd grade teacher!) in Palette Hybrid Noir as well. I rounded 2 corners, matted on Basic Black and Guava, and stitched with my trusty old Brother machine.

I ran the Soft Sky panel through my Cuttlebug Dots & Spots (or is it Spots & Dots?) embossing folder, and then mounted on Basic Black. The card base is also Papertrey White. To finish it off, I tied some Guava double stitched ribbon around, threw in some May Arts dotted organdy, and popped the main image up on Pop Dots.

I hope it made her smile...at least before she starts to lose her mind. ;)

Stamps: Papertrey Ink Little Lady, Paper Tray
Cardstock: Papertrey White, Basic Black, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky
Ink: Groovy Guava, Palette Hybrid Noir
Accessories: Cuttlebug Spots & Dots embossing folder, Sewing Machine & Thread, Pop Dots, SU Double Stitched Guava Ribbon, May Arts Ribbon

Our oldest will be in 2nd grade this year too, and I'm a nervous wreck!
This is a great card. I like the double bow, and the piercing "trail". I dig that you work so well with so many different styles!
