Boy am I Tired!!!

I am still recovering from yesterday's fun at the Arlington SCS Shoebox Swap, but you should see my kitchen table and the loot that's on it!! These ladies had some amazing cards, and I got to play with a few things I'd never used before, ok a LOT of things I'd never used before, and I also got an awesome door prize! I'll show it to you later, I'm too tired to take any more pictures. I thought I'd share what I did take though.

Starting at the top, that's me and Peyton (AKA brunettebabe), then Susan Liles (AKA susiestampalot), Kendra Giles (scrapstampindiva), and me, then me and Kendra! I think we were separated at birth LOL. The next 3 pics are of my first table of the swap. After that, well, I didn't have time to take any more pictures. But I did get ones of Sarah (AKA TXGrandmaX6), Carolyn (TTUMom), and Peyton (Brunettebabe).

We had such a great time, and I can't wait to do it again!!! Ok, after I get some sleep that is...

P.S. I think I'll be doing some Cinco de Mayo blog candy...so stay tuned!

Shoebox Swap!!

I'm so excited...today is my first Shoebox Swap! It's with a group of SCS'ers (45 in all) and it's going to be an all day affair! I just thought I'd share my door prize and swap card with you all.

I found this tin in the garden section of JoAnn's today. I covered it with the new Spring line of paper from Recollections. Inside is a roll of yellow stitched grosgrain ribbon, pink grosgrain with white polka dots, Bazzil Really Big Brads, Stickles in Waterfall, Orange Peel, and Yellow, and the BEST prize of all...this cute little flower full of M&M's that I got at the M&M World store in Times Square. Once all the M&M's are gone, it will make a fabulous embellishment storage container!! I loved the colors of the M&M's and it inspired the rest of the goodie basket!

My swap card is really simple...it needs to be made in less than 10 minutes! That was really hard for me, since I really tend to "overdo" things sometimes. But I did it! Hopefully everyone will like it.

Stamps: Office Accoutrement, Sincere Salutations

Ink: Cool Caribbean, Basic Black

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Real Red, Cool Caribbean

Accessories: Ribbon, Glimmer Mist in Oyster by My Tattered Angels

And last but not least, I tried to take a close up of the white cardstock sprayed with the Glimmer Mist. It adds this fabulous shimmer...I love it!!! Can ya see it???

Tag, I'm it!

Ok, so Julee tagged me, so now I have to reveal 7 things about myself. This should be fun...

1. I have terrible food allergies, and the worst is to eggs. NO baked goods for me! :POUT:

2. I have a secret desire to be on American Idol. Now, I am not the best singer, nor am I a great performer, but I love to be on stage. I wanted to be a Broadway star growing up. I was a vocal music major in college tho!

3. I am a hair stylist by trade. You'd never know it by looking at me b/c I'm a working mom and since I don't work in the industry any more, I don't have time or resources to keep up with all the trends. But I still love it all the same.

4. My husband and I have been best friends since we were 12. We met in 8th grade when our choir director thought we should sing a duet at the talent show. So we sang "The Rose" by Bette Midler. I wore the most fabulous dress...it was Teal with gold buttons down the middle, and the skirt had 2 ruffles...a la Kelli Kapowski on Saved by the Bell. LOL

5. I am a birth mom, and proud of it! 8 years ago this July I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Julianna Joy. Her parents were there, and her mom was in the delivery room with me. We have an open adoption so she knows who I am and we get to see her and stuff. I have a real passion because of this for young mothers who have such difficult options but I wish I could educate more people about adoption. It's such a wonderful gift for everyone involved!

6. I am very very short. Last time I measured, I was 4' 11" and 3/4. I usually round up to 5'... but let me tell ya...it is sooo hard to find clothes! ACK!

7. Josh does most of the cooking at our house. I just can't get the hang of it! If it were up to me, it would be Stouffer's Lasagna, frozen pizza, and Mac & Cheese!

Ok, so now I have to tag 7 more people to do this...let's see if I know 7 people who blog?

Kendra, Kristin, Cindy, Dina, and that's really it I think! Tag, girls!

Finally Done!

I finished the last of my projects for the baby shower...here they are in all their glory!! I am so excited about becoming an aunt, and I wanted all his stuff to be *just right*. LOL And it was really hard to not use more ribbon...and no sparkles at all!! In the gift basket were Thank You cards, an 8x8 board book scrapbook, 2 I Love NY onesies, a monogram K, and some travel wipes and baby stuff. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this stuff.

I used the Basic Grey Baby Boy and Bazzil papers in Fiesta, Arctic, and Lilypad on the board book and Crib Notes book. The Crib Notes was a bare 5x7 7Gypsies book with O-Rings. I printed "Crib Notes" on my printer, sealed it, and used Mod-Podge to adhere and protect it.The ribbon is from various places including Micheals, Recollections, and the Scrap Bucket. I also printed lines on the pages for guests to write advice or well-wishes for the mother-to-be. Baby Boy paper is on the Monogram K. (for Keegan!)

And here is a close up of the Thank You Notes. I tried to go with simplicity after making 40 Pocket Cards! LOL

Stamps: By Air, Sincere Salutations
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Whisper White
Ink: Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Fluid Chalk Ink in Warm Red, Palette Noir by Stewart Superior
Accessories: Fiskars Cloud Scissors, Black Gel Pen, Stamp-a-Majig
The saddest thing of all is that I didn't capture the "piece de resistance"...my 4 Layer Chocolate Pie. But it tasted delicious. LOL I am exhausted and going to veg in front of the TV tonight...hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

A Magic Potion!!!

Ok, so if you can't tell by the name of my blog, I love all that sparkles. In my family, we call it the "Tacky Terry" gene...named after my dad. The more bling, the better is the way we look at it. But, I digress.
I was working in Plano yesterday and decided to peek into Stamp Asylum to see if they had anything fabulous. AND GUESS WHAT...

... they did. Who knew?

So what is it, you ask? It is called Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels. Yes, simply put, it is happiness in a bottle for me. LOL It comes in a ton of colors and you just spritz it on your project, let dry, and *poof* you have shimmer. It's amazing, I almost peed myself. (ask Julee...) I bought Oyster, which just gives a clear shimmer, but I am going to get the copper and bronze as well as Autumn Skies (almost a dead ringer for my precious Cool Caribbean!) very soon.

No pic yet, I've just sprayed it on random pieces of CS, but for those of you who are coming to the Splitcoast Arlington Shoebox Swap, you may be seeing the results in person!!!

Howdy, Folks!

I have had so much fun in the last few months reading blogs, and today I had a moment. I came home to a bunch of pkgs and fun stuff and I wished I had a blog to share it! So...here ya go! I promise nothing in the way of information or tutorials, yet, as I have only been stamping since July 2006. But I thought I'd give this thing a whirl and see what happens!
So here's a pic of what I've been working on for the last few weeks. They're invitations for my sister-in-law's baby shower, which is Sunday. This was my prototype, so the real ones came out a bit different but you get the idea. She loved them! Now I have to split to work on a guest "advice/wishes" book, finish up her scrapbook, and make a pie. Wish me luck!!!
